Software Developer in Test & Automation, for on-demand transit system

Role Summary:

This is an opportunity in the exciting and fast-growing transportation technology industry.  Public transit is being transformed from a system of static, scheduled fixed-routes, to a dynamic on-demand network, and you’ll be one of the pioneers shaping this transformation.

You will join our growing software engineering team for test & automation, responsible for ensuring RideCo's on-demand transit platform is always running smoothly, and meeting our customers needs. The ideal candidate will have a deep interest in building cloud-based software that can operate at large scale, solving computationally intensive NP-hard problems, with real-time responsiveness, and while maintaining 99.99% uptime. You thrive in a small-team environment with fast-paced agile iterations, and where every developer contributes code that will make it to production and deliver meaningful impact to our customers and the company.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with engineers to develop test automation strategies and frameworks.
  • Build, maintain, and enhance tools that streamline and automate all forms of testing.
  • Build and run automated functional, integration, stress, and performance tests.
  • Run large scale simulations based on custom or real-world data to find or reproduce issues, bottlenecks, and regressions.
  • Analyze and report the results of testing efforts in a clear and timely manner.
  • Manual testing of mobile, web, and backend applications, as necessary.

  • Languages: Python, JavaScript / Angular
  • Web Stack: Django, Flask, Gunicorn, Nginx
  • Mobile: Ionic, hybrid apps for Android and iOS
  • Logistics Engine: algorithms for real-time vehicle routing, optimization, dynamic partitioning, NP-hard problems
  • Mapping/Routing: OpenStreetMap, travel time/route estimation, traffic modeling
  • Infrastructure: AWS, Terraform, Redis, PostgreSQL, Celery, RabbitMQ
  • Health/Monitoring: AWS CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana
  • Development Processes: Agile, continuous integration, Jenkins, zero-downtime software updates

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • 2 or more years of experience in at least three of the technologies mentioned in the previous section
  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Experience as a software developer or QA engineer
  • Knowledge of testing mobile, web, and client/server applications
  • Experience in automation and automated testing, including functional, integration, stress, and performance
  • Scripting and experience building diverse, robust tooling (Python, Perl, Shell)
  • Analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Compensation and benefits:

Base salary: $70K - $90K, commensurate with qualifications / experience + performance-based bonus or stock options
